This world is called Sanctuary by its intelligent inhabitants. It orbits a star not too much unlike our own, although it is hotter.
There is one large continent, the rest of the planet is covered in water. Atmospheric conditions are conducive to frequent, severe storms, forcing creatures on land to seek shelter often.
Luckily for them, there are large natural cave systems, which they have expanded over time.
Eventually, the majority of life simply adapted to life entirely underground.
Most creatures have methods of perception aside from sight, such as sonar. Underground rivers are common, and metals are plentiful.
More details may follow, and some things may be changed in the future. If you find any unaddressed conflicts in data between posts, assume the most recent is correct.

Hello there, reader
Okay, I'll admit it. I spent a while trying to write this first post so it would be 'eloquent' and all that, but well, it just didn't really work. So I'm just going to say what needs to be said.
I am creating a world.
I am going to attempt to make it at least somewhat scientifically plausible.
It will be inhabited by intelligent creatures which will have a distinct culture and psychology, completely different from anything on Earth.
I'm even working on a functioning language for them. Naturally, there will also be many other creatures, from predators to prey.
So, that's it. I hope you'll find this project interesting enough to follow it to the end.
P.S. The URL will make sense soon enough.
